Topic B: Biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of biomass
I am interested in collaborating on interdisciplinary research and innovation projects that focus on biotechnological applications to enhance the utilisation of biomass, particularly agro-industrial sources. My cooperation interests include the development of sustainable bioprocesses using green technologies such as supercritical fluids, subcritical water, ultrasound, and microwave-assisted extraction for converting biomass into high-value products, including bioactives, nutraceuticals, and bioplastics. Additionally, my laboratory is equipped with 3D printing capabilities for food and biomedical applications. I am also keen to engage in joint proposal writing for national and EU funding schemes. Furthermore, I welcome partnerships with academic, industrial, and governmental stakeholders to advance circular bioeconomy initiatives and contribute to knowledge exchange through workshops, publications, and outreach activities.
We welcome collaboration with universities, research institutions, and industrial partners working in the areas of bio-based materials, bioprocess engineering, and environmental biotechnology. Our objective is to jointly develop a project proposal under the Green ERA-Hub framework, with a focus on advancing sustainable bioeconomy applications. Through interdisciplinary cooperation, we aim to integrate innovative technologies and approaches that promote resource efficiency, circularity, and the valorisation of biomass into high-value products.
We are a research-focused academic unit within the Department of Biological Sciences at Munster Technological University, Cork, Ireland. Our expertise lies in biotechnological innovations for sustainable biomass utilisation, with a focus on green extraction technologies and 3D printing applications in food and biomedical fields. We actively engage in interdisciplinary collaborations to support circular bioeconomy initiatives and welcome partnerships under national and EU funding frameworks.
