Topic B: Biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of biomass
I am a Lecturer at the University College Cork Ireland and an environmental chemist specialising in nutrient management and waste valorisation, with a focus on transforming (bio)wastes into value-added bio-based products. My research involves nutrient (N&P) recovery from anaerobic digestates and the development of chemically and biotechnologically enhanced processes for converting biomass into biofertilisers.
I am open to joining or forming a consortium for proposals related to biotechnological valorisation of biomass, nutrient recycling, and sustainable biofertiliser production.
University College Cork is one of Ireland’s leading research-intensive universities, ranked as the top Irish institution for highly cited researchers. The university has a strong emphasis on research impact, interdisciplinary collaboration and industry engagement, supported by a strategic agenda called UCC Futures.
Our laboratory is fully equipped for the industry-standard measuring for a full suite of water chemistry parameters including nutrients, metals, organic matter and suspended sediment.
