Topic A: Plant breeding for improved resilience & health of crops, environment, and soil
We are interested in joining consortia working on plant breeding for improved resilience and health of crops, soil and environment. Fraunhofer IGD (Smart Farming Group) offers expertise in digital phenotyping, AI-driven stress detection, soil and environmental monitoring, data analytics, sensor and imaging technologies, and decision-support systems for breeding and field management.
We can lead or support work on phenotyping, environmental data integration, sensor development, digital tools, data management, and field validation.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD is Europe’s leading applied research institute for visual computing. The Smart Farming Group focuses on applying advanced digital technologies to agriculture, with expertise in imaging, sensor systems, AI-based data analysis, environmental monitoring, geoinformatics, and decision-support platforms.
We develop solutions for early detection of biotic and abiotic stress, soil and environment monitoring, and high-throughput, objective phenotyping to support breeding and sustainable crop production. Our work bridges research and practice, enabling robust, scalable field applications.
Fraunhofer IGD collaborates internationally with research institutes, universities, agricultural companies, and public stakeholders to develop digital innovations for resilient, sustainable agricultural systems.
