Topic B: Biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of biomass
We are interested in participating in consortia as a partner, contributing our expertise in control engineering and system dynamics, digitalisation, modelling and optimisation of (bio)processes.
The core competencies of the Chair of Automatic Control and System Dynamics (Prof. Stefan Streif) at Chemnitz University of Technology lie in control, optimization, process monitoring as well as data analysis and modelling (including AI-based methods) of complex, dynamic systems. Alongside method-oriented basic research, numerous interdisciplinary projects examine various applications in agricultural science (controlled environment agriculture), energy systems, and autonomous driving. In agricultural science, for instance, expertise is successfully applied to expert- and data-based modelling, feature extraction, and the derivation of optimal control systems. The professorship currently comprises 25 scientists (based on control engineering, bioprocess engineering, mechanical engineers, AI-sciences, informatics, mathematics, robotics), four technical and administrative staff members, and student assistants. A modern IT infrastructure provides the basis for data-intensive simulations and modelling tasks.
